Leadership Toledo picks Hannah's Socks

This posting is about a super-sized blessing that is way cool!

Several months ago, Doris submitted a proposal to Leadership Toledo, a nonprofit organization whose mission "is to foster leadership involvement by developing an awareness of community needs and opportunities." Please go to their website - www.leadershiptoledo.org - for more info.

The adult program is for 40-50 business professionals with recognized leadership skills who commit to an all-day meeting each month from September to May. During that time, they learn about community needs and use their expertise to aid volunteer service projects. The Youth Leadership Toledo program trains 50 high school sophomores, each selected because of their leadership potential. Executive Director Dave Schlaudecker is in charge of a great program!

Anyway, ours was one of 29 proposals asking for help from Leadership Toledo. Read more »

Sylvania Franciscan Academy

Thank you to Mrs. Sally Shannon and the fifth grade class at the Sylvania Franciscan Academy for the 200 pairs of socks donated to Hannah's Socks. We'll be taking these to Tent City with us Saturday morning as we serve the homeless neighbors in our area. We really appreciate these young people as they learn to give from their hearts to those who have less. What a beautiful lesson these children continue to learn through teachings at the Academy. Hannah sends a hug and thank you to all of you! www.sylvania-franciscan-academy.net

2007 RingFest is a hit!

Hannah's Socks was honored on Oct. 26th when Toledo First Seventh-Day Adventist Church hosted its annual RingFest bell choir concert. Associate Pastor Nathan French met us in the lobby to show us the container that was built to hold thousands of donated socks, which will be collected until Nov. 10th. Standing roughly six feet tall, three feet wide and three feet deep, socks already filled the bottom fifteen inches or so. The church's goal is to donate 6,000 pairs of socks to us by Thanksgiving!

Thank you Paramount Health Care

Pam Shannon from Paramount Health Care in Indian Wood circle, Maumee, Ohio told her co-workers about Hannah's Socks. Everyone was willing to pitch in and bring socks to work for our organization. We are so thrilled that they took part in Pam's idea! We now have 250 more socks to add to the sock total for the homeless folks in our area. The need is great. It is getting colder during the day but the nights are colder yet. If your place of business can help please give us a call. Every pair makes a huge difference to someone that doesn't have any socks. Thanks again Paramount Health care...for caring!
