We'd like to thank reporter Jennifer Boresz and the WTOL-TV news team for spending so much time with us at our first-annual Summer Picnic & Fundraiser — and for the "rock star" coverage! The station featured Hannah's Socks as the lead story on the 11 o'clock news the evening of the Picnic. If you didn't catch it live, click here to view WTOL's coverage of the Hannah's Socks Picnic.

The big Picnic report

A hearty and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who attended our first-annual Summer Picnic & Fundraiser this past Saturday -- volunteers, sponsors, vendors, friends, families, clowns, musical guests, and anyone I may have forgotten!

First, the good news:

  • We packed the park! While we don't have an exact number, the Hannah's Socks leadership team was pleased to see how many people attended the event. It was hopping all day long, with guests enjoying the barbecue, kids playing games, and folks winning a ton of great sponsor prizes.
  • Attendees came through big-time with sock donations -- we collected more than 1,100 pairs in less than six hours.
  • Supporters opened their wallets, and in turn Hannah's Socks was able to make both material and financial donations to key partner organizations including Cherry Street Mission and Cocoon Shelter.

Unfortunately, we did fall short of the $5,000 donation goal established to help us keep the Hannah's Socks business operating through 2007.

There's still time for you to help.

Click here to learn how easy it is to make a donation to Hannah's Socks today.

Thanks again to everyone who came to the Picnic; stay tuned for photos from our big day as well as plans for Hannah's Socks at Harrison Rally Days and details on our fall Socks Drive!

Thank you, thank you, thank you all!

As we get ready for a great day tomorrow, I want to say "Thank You!" on behalf of the Hannah's Socks team to everyone:

...who has provided financial support
...who has accepted a "Socks Box" to extend our outreach
...who has shared a kind word to encourage us
...and who has volunteered their time to serve, a most tangible example of support for our cause!

As God is my witness, we could NEVER achieve all that has been, and will be, achieved without the helping hands and hearts of so many generous people. I cannot fully express how humbling and uplifting it is to know that I am a part of these hands, reaching out with compassion to those with a need...inspired by, of all people, my oldest daughter! The entire enterprise has become so mind-boggling that all I can say is, "Thank You, One and All!"

And see you at the Picnic!
